Cornish firm sponsors new award to celebrate South West success

A Cornish energy broker is sponsoring a major hospitality award to help celebrate what is great about the South West.

Total Energy Solutions is backing the brand new category ‘Best South West Hotel’ in the Taste of The West Awards 2016.

In its milestone 25th year, Taste of The West aims to celebrate all that is great about the food production, retail and hospitality industries throughout the region.

Ali Carnegie, managing director of Total Energy Solutions, said: “We live and work in such a beautiful part of the country, packed with vibrant businesses providing superb hospitality, food and drink to attract visitors from around the world.

“We are delighted to be sponsoring the ‘Best Hotel’ (six rooms or more) category in the Taste of the West Awards 2016 in its silver anniversary year.

“At Total Energy Solutions we pride ourselves on offering a high quality of service, seldom seen elsewhere in the energy industry, so are looking forward to celebrating the best on offer in hotels in the South West.  We manage the energy contracts for many of the best hotels and food producers in our region so this is also a great opportunity for others in the industry to find out about the service we can offer their business.”

Emma Grainger, Taste of The West administrator, said the annual awards have grown year on year since their launch almost 25 years ago, and are a highlight in the South West calendar attracting thousands of producers, retailers and hospitality providers each year.

Emma added: “Tourism is crucial to this region and whenever we ask people why they are coming here we know that one of the top three reasons for visiting is the region’s highly rated cuisine.

“We’ve run a Best B&B award for five years and the category has been getting stronger and stronger each year. This is the first year we have had a Best Hotel category and we are delighted that Total Energy Solutions are sponsoring it.”

With 40 awards up for grabs - 26 produce, five retail, seven hospitality and two specialist awards - Taste of The West hopes to see a record number of entrants in 2016.

Entries close at the end of April 2016 and the overall winners will be announced at an award ceremony in September to be held in Exeter Cathedral.
