Total Energy Solutions has donated £1,000 towards a Crowdfunding campaign to help those living in fuel poverty across Cornwall.

The Stoke Climsland-based firm made the contribution as part of the company’s commitment and ethos of donating 10 per cent of its profit, as well as staff time, to local charities.

The Cornwall Fuel Bank crowdfunder, which expires on Friday, aims to raise £30,000 to ensure that fewer Cornish families have to choose between heating their homes and feeding their families.

Cornwall is in the top 10 fuel insecure areas of England with a massive 36,000 households living in fuel poverty.

Each donation made to the Cornwall Fuel Bank is match-funded by npower. The current total stands at £27,410 and the campaign closes at 5.30pm on August 24, 2018.

Kathryn Carnegie, Finance Director of Total Energy Solutions, said: “Whilst we are in the commercial energy business we are very aware that many people struggle to fuel their homes.

“Heat and light is a basic requirement and whilst food banks do a fantastic job in providing food for people, we welcome and fully endorse Cornwall Fuel Bank as a way of providing energy for people who are struggling and encourage other businesses to support this worthwhile and innovative cause.”
