Widespread installation of intelligent metering technology could save businesses more than £300m a year and cut annual carbon emissions by 2.5 million tonnes, according to the Carbon Trust’s three year trial.
Intelligent or Smart metering is new technology to provide relatively low cost meters that can be read automatically and which output consumption data.
The Carbon Trust’s smart metering trial shows that SMEs can make significant energy savings through deploying smart meters and using the data for energy management.
